It wasn't 3 Astronauts...it was a nation!

Who We Serve is forgoing reference to issues affecting those in the military community with a simple reminder that 50 years ago today the United States launched the Apollo 11 mission to land a man on the moon.

While there were three American astronauts riding in the capsule they had with them the support of more than 480,000 workers who provided parts and services to the mission.

They also had the support of the more than 202 million Americans living in the nation.

Apollo 11 was truly a national effort.

As we reflect on the events of today, just for a moment go back to those turbulent years of the 1960's when the nation was embroiled in an unpopular war, cities were burning and leaders were being assassinated.

It was a time when there seemed no hope until three men riding a rocket into the heavens took not only themselves but a nation to a different place.

A place where, for at least a while, the focus was on what we had accomplished as a nation.
